Introducing

ITheMM’s research activities revolve around engineering sciences, and more specifically on topics related to mechanics, heat and energy, and materials science.

These multidisciplinary research activities are implemented by 54 teacher-researchers , 9 BIATSS staff, and more than 20 PhD and post-doctoral students, making our institute one of the largest laboratories at the University of Reims Champagne Ardenne.

The institute has a platform that can accommodate large installations (Civil Engineering platform), and innovative and varied scientific equipment (mechanical testing machines, Tomograph, SThM, infrared thermography cameras, X-ray diffraction, 3D printers, plastics processing, ...).

In addition, our laboratory is one of the players in the creation of the internationally-oriented PLATINIUM3D technological and scientific platform, offering significant research and development resources in the field of industrializing additive manufacturing processes.

ITheMM is structured into 3 teams dealing with themes in the three scientific fields covered by the institute: Mechanics, Thermal-Energetics, Materials. It is important to emphasize that the institute deals with its research activities on significant length scales ranging from nanostructures to civil engineering infrastructure beams.
